With these new modern system, You have a hosting frame that has a name. That is what you see in ASMI and the HMC.

Then you have a partition that runs i5OS. What is available to programs running within that partition is the what you see in the DSPNETA.

This is the case even if you run only 1 partition with 100% of the hardware.

We decided there are 2 places to change the system name. The HMC (or ASM ) and CHGNETA. the latter was the source for what displays. The change on the HMC, not so sure.
