Effect of NOT running Inventory Month-end Close?

     Hi,
     We are running Version 6.04 Oct 98 BMR Bundle with a few Y2K BMRs.
     
     Anyone out there got a quick summary of effects of NOT running 
     Inventory Month-end close? 
     Advice on any action to take would also be appreciated.
