When an order is placed against a particular warehouse, that warehouse is said to have "soft" allocations against it. By soft, it means that a requirement is placed against the warehouse but not to any specific location. This is the IWI (warehouse inventory file). Once the order is allocated with specific locations in the warehouse to fulfill the order, it is said to be "hard" allocated. This is in the ILI or location inventory file. These files may at times get out of synch, thus the importance of the reset programs. Mike Bloom Manager, Help Desk Services Nexgen Software Technologies, Inc.
