for what it's worth we also use the same technique. through time our users want
their own reports, especially in the areas of inventory valuation and excess
and obsolete inventory analysis. (they want to see the value in terms of
material, labor and burden) so we have written our own reports and nearly every
one of them has the option to create an as/400 file with all of the detail
information on it. the user can request the report, or simply request the
creation of the disk file. they then use client access to download the file to
the pc, where the keep it, archive it or do what ever they need to do with the
data.

We created a "Clone" of CST280 that created an AS/400 file with all the
contents of the report from CST280. That file can be used directly or
downloaded to EXCEL. Works fine.

Subject: Re: CST280 to Excel
Has anyone had experience taking a Costed Bill of Material and sending it to
an Excel spreadsheet. We are looking to do this on a quarterly basis and
then comparing the last quarter costed bills to current.
