Here are the options - 1. Do nothing to the shop order, then MRP will thing you need 2 more feet and you will receive the total quantity on the shop order. 2. Adjust the shop order raw material required quantity to 12 feet nothing to the shop order quantity, then MRP will thing you will receive the total quantity on the shop order. 2. Adjust the shop order raw material required quantity to 12 feet and the shop order quantity to the equivalent of 12 feet, then MRP will know exactly what to expect from the shop order. If there is a requirement for the additional finished item, a planned order (or exception reschedule massages) will be generated. If you have a quick manufacturing process (less that you planning cycle) and no requirement for the finished quantity that you will be short, then do option 1. However, the perfect answerer is option 3. Tell the system what you are doing. Then everyone that uses the system will believe what the see on their computer and not second-guess what they see and make phone calls (or e-mails) asking questions. Or making promises that they cannot keep. Need more info? Call or e-mail Art Arthur B. Shaffer, CPIM Principal Consultant/Business Development Manager ASAP - Advanced Systems and Products, Inc.
