Multi-level DRP works in a single batch DRP run when the same item is travelling from one facility to the other, to the other. In your case, you have items built in one facility, then moved to another, where it is being used as a component to build a new item, hence the items are not the same. You need to run MRP then DRP both at the toop level facility, then MRP in the facility supplying the components to the facility above, then DRP in that facility to create demand on the lower level facility, then MRP on that lower level facility, and so on. Hope this helps Daniel Warthold P.eng CPIM -----Original Message----- From: daparnin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:daparnin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, February 03, 2005 09:50 To: bpcs-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [BPCS-L] DRP 101 Greetings, We are on BPCS 4.0.2 and have a situation that I think DRP might be the tool that we need to utilize. So far I haven't been able to set things up correctly in our test database to get the results that I'm expecting. About ten years ago I used to know how MRP/MPS worked but I haven't used it since then and have forgotten a bit of what I knew. We have three facilities. In addition to their own customer orders facility 1 currently manufactures component parts for facilities 2 and 3. We now have some new finished good parts at facility 2 that will use a component built by facility 3. This component has a component part in it built by facility 1. What we want is facility 2's requirements to generate requirements that trickle down for facilities 3 and 1. In DRP100 for facility 1 we currently have entries for *ALL from facility 1 to both 2 and 3. What do I need to do to set things up for these new parts? Do individual entries need to be set up for parts going "backwards" from 2 to 3 to 1? How does DRP500 fit in with MRP500 and MRP600? I have tried running DRP500 but I'm a bit confused as to the correct order to list the facilities so that the planning is done correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
