Depending on your version of BPCS, some programs may not gracefully handle
some fields being in the negative: on-hand, allocations; leading to some
fields becoming incorrect.

MRP may seek to replenish not only what you need, but also replace the
negatives. Negative allocations may undermine quantities that ought to be
ordered.
