I also lack intimate familiarity with areas of BPCS I have not delved into
very often, or as often as other areas.
Co-workers sometimes do weird things without telling me. I usually only get
told when something gets messed up. So possibility exists that our company
is (or has been) using combinations of things, me not aware of.
That's one reason I asked BPCS-L.
I figured that if there is any legitimate reason for records in HPO file,
without a corresponding HPH, that someone would tell me, with clue to what
other file(s) such scenario would be linked to.
I am also aware, without intimate familiarity, that there can be problems
linking to more files. In fact, I suspect some of our garbage issues with
MRP requirements, may be caused by this PO problem.
Briefly, when there is activity impacting MRP, the relevant records get
flagged with Y = MRP activity, to tell net change they need to be factored
in. In theory, after MRP regen, all those flags should have gone away. We
run list of what stuff the flags not gone away, immediately after regen,
then go hunt any problems in the coding of those items. There's some we not
finding good explanations for.
I am not aware of us using the SO feature where some operations can go thru
PO.
Costing is no longer a consideration, since we are no longer closed loop.
We receive inventory on Pos, run end fiscal month PUR900 Ok to purge
uncosted unreconciled, because HQ (not on BPCS) pays the invoices. We send
them standard costs for new items, they send us actual cost variations.
Lots of manual transcription.
I ran a query/400 list of suspected glitches for items via dead facilities,
where in most cases we had received quantity equal or greater than ordered.
I asked if I should hold onto the order lines where we had received less
than ordered quality. PUR manager told me it is all garbage he would like
me to make go away.

Re: [BPCS-L] 405CD HPO HPH
Are the PO lines tied to shop orders? Has the material been received into
inventory? I'm slightly familiar with this whole process, but intimately.
Is there a record of them in some archive or history? Is this purchasing
history needed? It could be that they are valid lines. I don't know what
this will do to costing and things like that if purchasing records just
aren't there for inventory that is still in the system.
Thanks

[BPCS-L] 405CD HPO HPH
I have found suspected file corruption & want to confirm my understanding
before deleting what is not wanted.
One problem found are records in HPO for order #s, for which there is no
corresponding HPH summary record.
HPO is supposed to contain detail lines of PO or Requisitions, and a
unique
line #, which ties into count of line #s in HPH, so if we were to delete
HPO
lines, we would need to revise corresponding HPH count of lines. There's
not supposed to be anything else in HPO than PO lines and Requisition
lines.
HPH is supposed to have one header summary record per valid PO or
Requisition. So there would be no harm to BPCS by removing any HPO records
which do not have a corresponding HPH header for the same PO?
If we manually removed HPO records, outside of BPCS programs, there would
be
no need to run any reorganization programs to get other files totals in
sync
with remaining HPH HPO records? The normal MRP, end fiscal, would
straighten everything out?
