Each language has it's strengths and weaknesses.
 
One of COBOLs strengths is its handling of 3D or more matricies.
 
RPG has difficulties here, with work arounds converting the 3D address to a 1D address, thus consuming many lines of extra code.

RPG's big advantages:

1)      READE - COBOL can take dozens of commands to accomplish this
