Thanks for the input.
Tend to forget how useful logical files can be.  I had finally made the program 
run, bug free, and decided to find ways to speed it up.  I've now made still 
another logical file, off of one of my frequently accessed physicals, to deal 
with my bottleneck.  And now, bingo bango, the 2 to 3 second delay between 
screens is now reduced to less than a second.   NOOT BAAD!!
