Times, they are a-changin' Its funny how countries go through this process of development. At first, just getting jobs is a big deal for a developing country, but as people get cars, savings, and personal assets, the countries discover they have a moral conscience. I suppose in the Grand Scheme of Things, this is good, The disruptions, while severe, are far less than the death & destruction of the Four Horsemen.
Our problem today is that we are facing the consequences of our own
success in showing the World a new and better way.
Still, to me, the problem lies far beyond the movement of industry and
manufacturing. Are the results any different if a Detroit auto worker
loses his job to robot or to a South Korean? As many jobs are
disappearing as are off shoring.

There is no way for Americans to compete against India, China and others because they are not socialistic countries.
They have no Ponzi Scheme (Social System system) that cuts into take
home pay and a cost to the employer hiring them.
They do not pay 26 weeks of vacation to people that lost their job
outside their fault and many that in reality lost a job at their own
fault, unemployment insurance.
They expect people to be self sufficient, if India had a Katrina the
government would not get involved. The people caught by Union Carbide's
chemicals would had no help had it not been for Union Carbide sending
help following a chemical leak. People were surprised that help came
from America.
People take medicine they trust and do not have an FDA to second guess
their trust.
They do not pay farmers to grow a crop and pay farmers not to grow a
crop. Ted Turner gets $MUCH each year as a farmer and couldn't drive a
tractor.
People go to school to get a life long advantage. They do not suffer
from a "Free Public Education System" whose sole purpose is to
indoctrinate, brainwash students with thoughts the government want them
to think.
They do not have a FTC whose purpose is to help people get ripped off.
The list can go on for pages for why our socialism helps India and China.

It is out choice.

People love the low prices at Wal-Mart -- the shirts I buy at a low price have to offshore made to be sold at the price I want to pay.

If our factories are shuttered, and the blue-collar folks are out of work, what need will there be for on-shore tech services? I fear that we are creating an entire generation of people who will never have a meaningful job in their life. We are approaching the time where the major line of business in areas that formerly provided manufacturing jobs is the gang-related drug trade. Look at the south side of Chicago, Newark, Philly, or the Bronx.
Shifting the economy from one that is manufacturing based to one that is
services based is foolhardy.
