Normally I don't like to get into these naming flames, especially with a nice guy like Jerry (who lives in my same county), but Mike may have something there about the perception.
However for a contractor, vs an "employee", does it much matter? Money is money. And it's not like you're making a long term commitment and leaving an existing job with it's possible benefits and comfort level for a leap into the abyss.

I think it may give you an indication of the code base that a contractor might encounter. AS/400? Bet it’s monolithic RPG with RLA. IBM i? Better chance of ILE, SQL, OSS.

that call their systems AS/400s and they have been on an actual AS/400 in years.
