It is your call.
While the system can be left up, my vote is down for reasons beyond our control.
It is the not under our control environmental factors that concern me.
The only difference I see is you are betting on the fate of your AS400 & disks upon your UPS ability to manage and survive any series of Power outages. You might be fine with full RAID protection,with a disk power up failure BUT in worse shape in the event of multiple incomplete IPLs with the power remaining on and exhausting/exceeding your UPS capabilities.
If your concerned about Disk Drives Not Starting after a Powerdown: Would it be prudent to begin a replacement program [post 01-01-00] for those suspect disk drives?
That way you would be in control of "legacy DASD" for 2000 and beyond .
