shane,

you can write an agent in lotus script and use lotus script extensions to
run SQL to access your as400 database, call an as400 program via a stored
procedure (as long as you only want to pass parameters in, you can't have
any parameters returned), or run the stored procedure on the as400 which
contains sql statements and returns a result set (i haven't tried that one
yet though).

invoke the agent through web your web query save or web query open events
which fire when the form opens or closes.

i've done lots of the above (as well as a few java servlets which are
invoked via javascript commands).

we use domino's http server and are not having any performance problems, but
i'm not an expert in this area by any means. maybe your network has a
problem???

hope this helps.

if you would like some examples let me know.
