I have a form created that uses a DECS connection back to a table on an
AS/400. The connection seems to be working. The problem I have is that
when I update the data in Notes and DECS pushes it back to the AS/400 DB,
empty fields are being set wrong. In other words, text fields that were
blank in Notes are not being set properly in the AS/400 table.

When I look at a record in the table on the AS/400, the hex representation
of the fields shows that it is filled with x'00' when it should be filled
with x'40'. I am not sure if this is a null issue. The fields in the
table are set up to not allow nulls. When I use SQL on that field it is
not null. I am not sure what value is in the field. The field starts on
the AS/400 being filled with x'40'. When it comes back to the AS/400 after
being maintained in Notes, it is filled with x'00'. I do nothing to that
field in Notes. I change a totally different field.

Why is Notes/DECS changing the field? How do I get Notes/DECS to set the
field to blanks(x'40')? Is there a solution to this problem?
