I thought Lotus was getting better than blaming everything on not enough memory. They used to do this a lot during the early times of Domino on the 400. Then they started actually attempting to solve the problem. We have 504 running on a 830-23D1, with processor utilization running under 10%. About 800 mail users and a 100 or so other databases being banged on. Seven partitions - not counting *HTTPSETUP. This machine also bangs on ADSTAR backing up our PC's. We have 504 running on a 40S-2111 with processor utilization running around 47%, (1 mail user-VP systems, 'testing'). We have 503 running on a 820-23A2 with processor utilization running around 42%. Very light Domino usage. Extensive developing of RPG and whatnot. This is our testing/development machine. We will be loading 504 on a 170-2291. Maybe this week. We hope this to be our web server. Hopefully we won't have the same problems you have. (Hey, if we would have waited until we needed it instead of buying it way too early, ((project delays)), we might have bought the bumble bee.) Every 8 weeks we bring down all machines. All of the machines are running V4R5, cum=00231, with the following group PTF's: SF99105-Database SF99096-Hipers SF99077-Backup/Recovery Refer to: http://as400service.rochester.ibm.com/s_dir/sline003.NSF/GroupPTFs?OpenView&view=GroupPTFs http://www.iseries.ibm.com/domino/v4r5ptfs.htm JWGrant@pdpgroupin c.COM To: DOMINO400@midrange.com Sent by: cc: owner-domino400@mi Subject: Help: Mail Server Crashes after 5.0.4 Upgrade drange.com 10/11/00 07:11 PM Please respond to DOMINO400 We just upgraded our AS/400 domino server to 5.0.4 . When trying to replicate mail to a local mail file from the server, we get a message "unable to connect" . If we repeatedly try to replicate eventually the server reponds and replicates. The AS/400 is running mulitple servers and it appears when we end on of the other servers (web,Development) the mail server stabilizes some what. IBM/Lotus is telling us that there is not enough memory on the box (9406-170-2291, 832MB Main Storage, 50GB DASD), however we did not have any problems until we upgraded to 5.0.4. We are upgrading the box, but we can not wait until the upgrade is completed to get a stabile mail server. Has anyone else upgraded to 5.0.4? Any Problems? When we look at the servers through the ops nav interface the mail server indicates that it is started (only) not active, but the server will still replicate and open mail files. IBM/Lotus says that this is a known bug and there is no fix for it as of yet on 5.0.4. (the fix is to downgrade the server to 5.02X) Any comments and/or suggestions would be helpful.
