We load it on to our test 400 first.
Then development.
Then Failover server.
Then Primary server.
And, when the marketing gods allow, we put it on the web server.
I hear that, especially if you are doing web serving, you want to stay
current. [Got to patch those security holes, you know.]

Soon we will have Internet Cluster Manager configured for our intranet. It
will be awhile until we have that configured for our internet.

We have a new 400, just arrived today. This will be our new web server.
But we have to upgrade to V5R1, and we want to put the latest Domino server
on. Basically we always inform marketing of these plans - right after they
spend a week at a trade show extolling our web site, among other things.
What do you think, about a 2 day downtime to:
1) Save entire system
2) Upgrade to V5R1
3) Upgrade Domino
4) Do another complete save as part of Unload/reload
5) Fix configurations (resource name changes, etc)
6) Test
7) Do another complete save on the new machine
Basically we have 1 notes database on this 400 which changes. It is
replicated to be backed up. Other than that, the boss feels that no saves,
whatsoever, are necessary. So, when I get a chance to save, I go nuts.

What advantages have you found to staying so current - or is it just a case

of loading it on the devlopment environment to stay ahead of the curve ?

Just curious
