RE: Moving to a new AS400

Personally, I dislike name machines using a serial number.  Fortunately,
Domino sees the name of the Domino server as being unique and separate
from the name of the host server.  It's just easier to have them named
all the same.  You can name your new machine at SERN01 and just rename
the old one to HEAVYBUCKET or something more suitable.  Then restore the
backed up Lotus stuff and adjust the IP Host entries on the other hosts
and DNS stuff.  Not too complicated for upgrading the machine but it
will cause major confusion for users at SERN01 is the name of the new
AS/400, but it is not real serial number ;).  The computers really don't
have feelings about this, only those darn users!

Another technique for moving the data is to get all the machines setup
and running together so that replication can synchronize all the
databases.  Once the databases are in sync, "Retire" the old AS/400.
Review the Admin Help for "Retiring" a server.  I can provide more
