I think that what's happening with the first message is that you're trying
to access a 'secured' database via the browser. You've likely not given
Anonymous access to the nsimpson.nsf (or disallowed it), and/or set
-Default- to 'No Access'. The nature of the web is that connections are
anonymous. Since you've set the ACL in your database to either (or both)
not allow Anonymous or -Default-, you're being challenged. This message
will happen with any database that you've restricted Anonymous and
-Default- access.

Fritz,

Thanks for taking an interest in this problem.

First of all I type in the URL http://domserver/mail/nsimpson.nsf/inotes

Before I type in the password I get this message in the log:

'18/01/2002 13:55:03 You are not authorized to perform this operation
[/mail/nsimpson.nsf/inotes]'

I type in the password click on the link to install.

I then get the Installing Subscription from unsecure source message and
asking whether I want to install or not. If I click yes this message
appears
in the log:

'18/01/2002 13:56:10 DOLS DSAPI Warning: Unable to find Offline Security
document for user/domain Nathan Simpson/awh/au or its parent.'

I can then give the path for installation and then provide my ID file.

My name is then in the list of Off-Line users in the Off-Line Services
document.

After installation the iSynch program never starts.

I think the first message is the problem. To me, the second message is
just
stating that I haven't installed this software before. I could be wrong
though.

I created my user as instructed.

I am very new to Domino particularly R5.

To create a iNotes Outlook user doesn't required anything special does it?
Just use the template provided.

One other unrelated thing. If an admin wants to access a users mail file
what does he need to do. Does the user need to manually give access rights
to the administrator?

TIA

Nathan Simpson

When you supplied the ID file, what was the error message in the Domino
Log file?

|DOLS with Outlook still uses an ID file on the client machine.
| When you point to the NAB, the user needs to have the User.ID
|in the Person document, so that DOLS can download the thing.
|I have found supplying the ID file, and using the "supplied ID
|file" security option to work more reliably. Maybe this is
|the issue!?!?!

||
||It is /awhcom/au
||
|
|
||Is your security domain /awhdom/au or is it \awhdom\au ?
|Mine is like
||the first example.
||
||
|
|
|||
|||
|||I use the NAB option and supply the name of our address book ie.
|||names.nsf
|||
||
||
|||
|||
|||What type of security checking technique did you choose in the DOL
|||security document?
|||
|||
||
||||
||||I created a DOL security document with the server name
|||'\awhdom\au'. Is
||||this right? our server name is '\ho-awh-cf1\awhdom\au', so
||is putting
||||'\awhdom\au' correct?
