This is probably not what you want to hear. But I recommend sticking with
the AS/400 method for flexibility sake. For example.

I create a file called ALERT. One field - EMAILADR.
I put the following records in the file:
rob@dekko.com
myboss@dekko.com
2605551212@archwireless.net

And if 2605551212 is my pager number then the messages go to my pager
automatically. Thus I don't have to use two programming methods to send
out the message. And frankly, the speed is quite quick. And you can cheat
and put the dekko.com in your local host table so it doesn't really go out
to the Internet. Also, if you decide to put your Domino on a DSD in the
future you will not have to reprogram.

Beware of the old HiTest API's. I hear they are going away.

Hi guys

I have been asked whether it is possible to send emails as a result of
AS/400 events.

I know that I can use an API to send email but the system this applies to
uses Domino for mail, and I am wondering whether this makes any difference
or whether there is an easier way to do this using any Domino API's or
interfaces.

I seem to recall an interface library one of our Domino developers
obtained, but the references and documentation seem to have vanished with
him :) so I am in the process of hunting this stuff down again.

If you have any sample code <g> or advice that's great, but I'm more than
happy with just a pointer to the appropriate manual or reference.

I'm going to do some more searching today but any help or suggestions would
be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Evan Harris
