With LEI (Lotus Enterprise Integrator) which is an add-on product for
Domino you can do real-time access to external data sources but you need
to have documents created in your Domino database with fields which lookup
the information from the external source using a 'key'.

I think what you are asking for is 'virtual documents' which is one of the
new whizzy features of LEI 6 and Domino 6, both of which are still in Beta
but available for download.  LEI 6 and Domino 6 (with DCR - Domino
Connection Records) allow you have a Domino database design with
absolutely no documents - views are populated on the fly via real-time
access to the external data and no data is stored within the actual Domino
database itself.  It's really great technology.
