Rob,

Again, I should have been a little more clear. We don't use Visions to mirror
anything for Domino. We don't mirror the IFS, and we don't mirror the Domino
objects. We use it for our other data and applications.

We're a 24x7 operation, so we only backup a few key files each night. We
don't do a full nightly backup. Now that we're using Visions, we run full
backups on the mirrored machine.

However, we can have the main system for maintenance every Sunday, and I can
get my ops people to backup whatever I want them to, but a full system backup
would take too long. Obviously, I need the IFS files and the QNOTES*
libraries. But I have a feeling there's other stuff out there that would need
to be backed up before an upgrade.
Mike E.

This is a multipart message in MIME format.--[ Picked text/plain from
multipart/alternative ]An important thing to remember is that an upgrade of one
server in yourdomain might very well affect the rest of the servers in your
domain. Forexample, upgrading the NAB on one server may replicate it's changes
to therest of your nab's. Then you'll try something like restoring to
anearlier version. Which get's clobbered again because now one of the
otherservers will replicate it's changes back to that database. The same
thingmay hold true for templates, etc. If you haven't customized the nab,
mailtemplates, personal address book templates, started using Fax for Dominofor
iSeries, etc, then it shouldn't be a problem.Generally though, we just rely on
the backup from the night before when weapply an upgrade. The nightly backup
drops the domino servers beforedoing the save of the ifs.Why are you using
Visions to mirror your Domino servers to a backupinstead of using Domino's
clustering?Rob Berendt--"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a

Backup for upgrading[ Converted text/html to text/plain ]What do you guys
back up before installing an upgrade? We have gone tousingODS and OMS from
Visions to mirror most of our machine to another 400, sowedon't back up this
400 any more. I'm a little worried about upgrading, because some of my upgrade
experiences have not been so smooth. Also, does the upgrade to 5.0.10 fix some
of the problems in iNotes WebAccess?Mike
