Running R5.11 on V5R1 AS/400. Clients were coming up for recert the last 6 months. Initially I would receive word from client they needed to recertify their Notes id and I did recertify and that went OK. I then started renewing as my cert log showed personnel were coming up and I assumed when the clients logged on their Notes id would update themselves automatically. Since I had not received word they were having problems or daily notification of expiring ids I assumed all was well. By experience the R5 environment is not automatically upgrading their ids as intended and allowing them still to function. Our app developers then created a performance appraisal application with a Notes interface and a web interface. If a client uses the browser, a web link is transferred, there is no problem as long as they have a valid username and Internet password. If a Notes client is used a doc link is sent, and some of the recepiants clicks on the link and receive a "you are not authorized.." dialog box. Sometimes I have to send the initiator of the evals an upgraded userid if several recepiants have the same problem or if only one recepiant has the problem I send that person an upgraded userid and all is processed OK. (1) Since I have not been able to convince people to just use the web interface is there any way to identify the clients in my environment who do not have an updated Notes id on their client. (2) What confuses me is, if their userid at their desktop does not agree with the certificate information in the Domino Directory, why are doc links the only problem showing up and not the initial sign on to the system. ----------------------------------------------------------- Gary L Wade Lotus Notes Administrator City of Orlando - City Hall 400 S.
