You want to do an ENDDOMSVR *CNTRLD.  If, and only if, that fails to stop 
it AFTER 15 MINUTES, then you can do an ENDDOMSVR *IMMED.
ENDDOMSVR *IMMED is the same as ENDSBS *IMMED.  If you notice, on a 
*CNTRLD, the subsystem continues to run - just no jobs underneath it.  I'm 
being nice, a Lotus rep would probably try to convince you to wait until 
the second coming of Christ.

Some months ago I helped out a local company.  Normal guy was on vacation. 
 Other guy thought that ENDDOMSVR *IMMED would be faster than *CNTRLD. 
True.  However, when they brought their server back up they noticed that 
some people could get into their mail, but not others.  The lower you were 
in the alphabet, the sooner you got in.  Turns out that since they brought 
it down hard, it had to do a consistency check on every database on the 
server.  Some stern words from me (what the he!!, I wasn't getting paid) 
and a thorough explanation, and I don't believe that he will try that 
again.

ENDDOMSVR versus Ending Subsystem






I have been asked if there is a difference between ending the Domino
server with ENDDOMSVR and just ending the Domino subsystem. If they are
both graceful and soft and end the Domino server in the same manner. I
have never been asked that, since I always tell them to do the ENDDOMSVR
and that ending the subsystem is something to do as a last resort. Maybe
I was wrong. Any insight into this?
