It's getting rather disgusting how lousy the iSeries is as a file server.
I know that mapping a drive to a Domino directory is extremely frowned
upon. And I can respect their concerns as far as accessing nsf files
goes. However, when I want to send in a nsd or notes.ini for analysis I
don't dare drag and drop it via iSeries Navigator or mapping a drive. Too
often the data gets scrambled. And why can I not drag a spool file from
iSeries navigator and put it into Notes? No, first I have to put it on
the desktop and then into Notes. About the only thing that works is ftp.
When I open a pmr on this it is suggested that I have each of my 800+
users open iSeries Navigator and change some option to associate by file
type to translate it right. Funny thing is, if I use NT as my file server
I don't have to do that crud.

I don't suppose there is some magic CCSID that Domino could start using
that would minimize this issue? Granted, that's a bandaid solution for
something that IBM needs to fix in NetServer and iSeries Navigator. But
if those lads have no interest in improving their product...
