Still running Domino R5, eh? Better get to R6 if you ever want to see
V5R3.

In the instructions for upgrading Domino servers you often see a line
like:

http://www.developer.ibm.com/tech/faq/individual?oid=2:25589

And from:

There's:
If Domino is installed, enter the following command to end Directory
Synchronization jobs:

call qnotesint/qnndiend
Wait until Directory Synchronization jobs end (this may take up to 5
minutes). Use the Work with Active Jobs (WRKACTJOB) command to determine
when directory synchronization is ended. Use the following command line to
determine if any jobs are still active:
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/quickplace/mu20801.htm
wrkactjob sbs(qsyswrk) job(qnndi*)
Look for job names that begin with "QNNDI". If there are no jobs with this
name that are active, then Directory Synchronization is ended.

Subject
QNotes Job at Shutdown

When backing up the iSeries, the operator tells me that he ends the
Domino server in preparation to backup the server. After it ends, he
tells me that there is a QNOTES job still running in subsystem QSYSWRK.
The job, QNNDIRQS, is keeping him from saving *DTAARA QNNDIRQS in
library QUSRSYS.

He looked around on IBM's site and found this, but I am unsure if we end
this job, how the Domino server will restart.

http://www-900.ibm.com/cn/support/library/as400/download/dominoprb.pdf

QNNDIRQS is one of the jobs that starts when option 1 is installed on
your AS/400 system. It is related to directory synchronization, but is
not under the control of the Domino
server. You can end it using an ENDJOB command.

Any ideas on this one?

Thanks.

Gregg
