We FTP the web logs as ASCII , we have to specify ASCII for the FTP type
transfer. I have a rule *.log transfer as ASCII in my ftp tool.

CCSID is 37 and it is a stream file.

I do not recommend using a mapped drive from Windows to the Notes/Data
directories in general, you can and will have issues. It is also not
reccommended by IBM.

FTP is much faster at transferring the files and can be scheduled to run
at say 12:30 AM after the log files have rolled on to a new date.

There are also many free FTP tools which have a scheduling tool to
transfer the log files down.

We use WebTrends currently. Works well with domino logs. IT does take some
time to configure the reports.

Cheers,

Sean

Hello all,

6.5 on iSeries v5r2

I can read my web logs on the green screen using wrklnk then drilling down

to each file and displaying using a 5 -- data displays fine.

I'm trying to open up the same files in a PC program such as Excel for now

and eventually some web log analyzer, but the data is not readable.

I've tried mapping a drive to a share on the IFS and opening via Notepad,
Excel, Wordpad, etc... I've tried copying and pasting the file using
OpsNav from the IFS to my PC with the same result. What else should I try

???

I've seen some references on the IBM Lotus tech support site about the
CCSID of the file but they're all 37 which I believe is as it should be.

Thanks in advance,
Bob

iSeries Navigator
File Systems
Then Right Click on Integrated File Systems itself - do not expand it.
Select Properties. On the text tab do you see an opportunity for
automatic file conversion?

You know how ftp defaults to ascii and you have to change it to binary for

certain files? I believe that the Integrated File System is vice versa.
Closest explanation I could find.
