When we had to do something similar, we created a new server with a new
name and new IP address, then got replication running between the two so
that they were effectively mirrors.  Then we sent out memos to the users
whose mail files were moving that included code to modify their location
and connection documents to accommodate the changes (and notify me when
they had run the button).  I have heard of people using scripts in mail
files to make that code run totally transparently, but I didn't try that.
About half-way through sending out these memos, we changed the MX records
so that incoming mail started coming to the new server instead of the old
one.  Unfortunately, I can't find the code we used, but we gleaned it from
the web, so you should be able to locate it if you need it.

We have a relatively small environment, but I hope this provides you with a
starting point.  There were rough spots, but for most end users, it was
smooth enough that a lot of people didn't realize that the conversion was
complete until we sent out the e-mail saying so.

Hi,

We have a Domino server on our AS/400. Both the AS/400 and the Domino
server share the same IP address. And hostname.

How could I move the Domino server to its own IP address? I am guessing
that having the same hostname will cause some problems. Any ideas on what
I could do and the best way to go about it?

Running 6.5.1 IF1 on an 820
