So a weird occurrence conspired againsts us. Seems that the original notes install was in the root of c: on the old pc and also on the new pc. WinXP in it's infinite wisdom (by default) when the user did the re-install, installed the notes into c:\program files.... boy that really confused notes as shortcuts, the ini file, startup menu options were pointing to different directories, and without the proper id file, desktop etc... it sure confused the heck out of that intel processor... So the install is now in one location and all the files are there too and (for now) everyone is happier.
