Why would one NOT want to leave the id file in the directory?  Been years 
since I took the admin class and something there convinced me not to.  But 
I also realized I did lots of stupid things when I first started (like 
naming a domino server the same name as the 400 it was on).

Rob,

Have setup roaming in test environment with the same settings that Chris 
has used with success.  I too have left the .id in the Domino Directory 
for the same reasons, ease of client installation.  Not enough interest 
with the ones who pay the bills to implement roaming.
