I had this situation last week with sending mail to my mom's company. They 
had received a DDoS attack. I didn't do the TELL ROUTER SH, but I didn't 
see any errors in the log either (like you). Most likely was the DNS 
avail. problem since there were probably problems getting the address, 
etc... due to the DDoS attack.
