Doesn't sound familiar.
What version of OS/400?
What version of Domino?

Now, I've had to use ENDJOBABN for other functions. And I did have an ipl
stay on D90027C0 for an inordinate amount of time because of it. That was
February of 2004 though.

I'd open a ticket with Notes.

Next time it hangs, and prior to ENDDOMSVR *IMMED, gather information with
the DMPSVRSTKS command from
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/domino/devtools/dmp/

I see that message "out of private handles" is really popular at:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=%22out+of+private+handles%22
There is even one regarding a fix pack for 6.5.3 of domino running on
iSeries.

DPAR just would not die

We have been on the 400 for almost two years now (for Domino) and this was
the first time we have seen it. Has anyone else ever experienced a
similar
situation where a power down was the only solution:

- Two DPARs where one is was inaccessible do to "Out of Private Handles" -
we know the issue and working with the 3rd party app to fix
- Tried to end the server with *IMMED since it will not properly shutdown
with a controlled
- Job SERVER would not end. Not even trying to issue ENDJOBABN commands
- Had to end the second DPAR for an IPL
- Tried to IPL the LPAR and even after a PWRDWNSYS *IMMED the box was hung
at a SRC of D900 2740
- We had to go to the managing LPAR to set the system into manual mode and
force a powerdown.

Thanks,
Eric
