Mike,

The upgrade process can be straightfoward, but I highly recommend copying
all of your data to a test server
and perform and document the pgrade than have someone QA it.

There are too many modifications from 5.08 to 6.5.4 to cover here on this
forum.

You will need to upgrade LEI and I suggest you test the upgrade.
decsadmin.nsf is the current database
for LEI. Rob is correct about copying and pasting the docs into the
decsadmin.nsf database.

Eric and Chris:

Please do not laugh too loudly. I discovered that I was taking advantage
of R6 commands in my agent code, and then putting the agent on the R5.0.8
server. So, I have to recompile it on an R5 client and see what happens. I

can't believe that I did that.

Thanks.

Gregg

I hope that's all it is.... I still think it will be a codepage (charset)
issue with the iSeries.

subject: 6.5.4 Upgrade from 5.0.8

Hi everyone,

I'm pretty new to the Notes/Domino world, and one of the tasks I've
inherited is an upgrade. We're using Domino basically for web access
(almost no Notes clients; most users come in with a browser), and we're
currently at 5.0.8. We'd like to get to 6.5.4 asap, and I've got a test
(Windows) network to play on, but I have a couple of concerns that I
can't test:

1) We're using LEI v3.0, which I've read won't work with Notes 6.x. If I
upgrade LEI also, am I likely to be all set? Does it matter if I upgrade
LEI before or after the server upgrade?

2) We're also using LSX for ODBC connections to our AS/400 (currently at
V5R2). Are there any gotchas with using this after the upgrade?

Ive been reading everything I can find about upgrades, and the process
seems pretty straightforward, but since I've never done this before I'm
worried that there's something basic that I'm missing. . . .

Thanks very much!

Here's a good chart
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/domino/domino6/releasesupport.pdf

However, you're pretty far back. 5.0.8 is off the chart. As is LEI 3.0.
And I don't recall what version of OS you're at.
In fact, there looks like, on page 5 of the chart, there is a break in the

evolutionary cycle of LEI.

How hard would it be to redo your LEI?

I think at one time the LEI admin database changed from leiadm.nsf to
decsadm.nsf. Maybe that was a 3.x to 6.x thing. I've had a beer since
then, but I think I copied and pasted the documents from one to the other.

I've had a tough time finding the migration documentation and I hear Fred
Flintstone hollering "yabba dabba doo" in the background so I am calling
it a night.
