Ken,

That would explain why it worked after ending the subsystem. Didn't look
at the WRKACTJOB.

Appricate your reply.

Re: Strange Database Error Message after Crash and Restart

Hi Rich,

The error message indicates that "someone else" is using your Domino
Directory. I had a crash one time with a similar error and found through
WRKACTJOB that update was the only active task on that DPAR. I ended the
update task and was able to start the server normally.

Regards,
Ken

Greetings All,

Got up this morning and checked my 7.0 server, like usual and found that
it was down.

Got in and started the server, but received a weird error message.
01/23/2006 05:26:00 Activity logging failed to initialize: This database
is currently being used by someone else. In order to share a Notes
database, all users must use a Domino Server instead of a File Server
01/23/2006 05:26:08 Directory Assistance failed opening Primary Domino
Directory names.nsf, error: This database is currently being used by
someone else. In order to share a Notes database, all users must use a
Domino Server instead of a File Serv

The server refused to finish booting and crashed. Had to end the
subsystem *immed, controlled shutdown didn't work.

After that I was able to start the server normally.

This is a 6.5.2 to 7.0 upgrade running on 5.3 OS.

Anyone ever hear of this?

Thanks,
