He was talking remote users. Replicating every 5 minutes when there is no
connection buys you nothing. If you do set up replication then you have
the issue that you not only can't selectively open email that is small and
manageable, you can't do anything until replication completes (when you
first re-establish communications). It might be useable if they fire up
their laptop first thing in the morning, start replication, and then
perform their rest-room ritual before attempting to read email. Then
start replication at Starbucks before placing their order later in the
day.
