We're not on 8 yet, but the question I have is, does the directory
template(Domino Directory) have the placeholder for the picture or just the
personal address book template(Contacts) ?

The Contacts template and the Directory template are not the same...

Why is this bad news? The example was from a personal address book,
but as I stated, in most cases these will be found in the Domino
Directory, not a personal address book.

I discourage copying our companies address book to your personal address
book. Even just the entries from our department. Too often have I seen
changes (name changes, etc) not get propagated. I am willing to put up
with the hassle of having to reach into my wallet for list of departmental
employees versus scrolling through my large contact list in my Treo. (I
sync my Treo with Notes.)

The picture in the link is a personal address book, but you can add a
photograph to a contact in either one. I would imagine that most of
the contacts containing pictures in a local address book would simply
be contacts copied from the Domino Directory, given that most
endusers aren't going to go to the trouble of adding a picture to a
contact in their personal address book.

Does that link refer to the Domino Directory or the Personal Address

When your company rolls out Notes/Domino R8, your management will
have the option to add a photograph to each person's contact record
in the Lotus Notes Name and Address book (directory). Here's the link:

Re: Customized letterhead

I sent my response before I saw Walter's response. Up to that point,
it appeared to me that you wanted to include a picture for all email,
including Internet email.

Even given that, if you added your picture to your letterhead at any
company that I've worked for, you would catch so much grief from your
co-workers that eventually you'd find yourself removing it. Maybe
your company's different.

Timothy,

Why should a picture take up any more space than the "Buck Rodgers"
logo,
etc?

I think the answer is that the letterhead is not sent with the
email.
Apparently there's some simple text in the memo that says which
letterhead
to use. Then it displays an image based on the recipients mail
file.
As
Walter said, if I want my recipients to see my picture in the
letterhead
then I better modify the mail7.ntf (or other templates as necessary)
and
apply those templates to all mail files on the server. Based on
that
information, I think I'll pass.

On a related note, when I pull up my contact list in Sametime
Connect
Client and start a chat with someone, I see something which looks
like
a
generic shading of a picture. How do I populate that picture with a
picture of that contact?
