HI Rob,
We used a Notes database to control the migration process which used
replication rather than FTP because, whilst slower than FTP, it avoided
downtime (which is essential for any OS/FTP copying). Whilst slower, we
could use a longer window ( basically everything outside of peak hours)
than would have been available to FTP with the servers down.
The database was developed in house and tracked the whole migration
process including selection of user groups to migrate and document count
checks to ensure complete replication. It was also used to send out the
various user communications required. We used it to move around 25,000
users and it ran very smoothly. Being Notes/Domino based, it will work
with any platform which supports Domino.
If you would like to know more, get in touch..
Many thanks
Brian

Re: Admin has retired - what to clean up?
Thanks Gregg,
We don't have any apps (other than a few web enabled document libraries,
and I created all of those).
I guess I 'misspoke' about ownership, and that was misleading. I did see
his name in a few places (such as resource reservations) where things were
'owned' by him, but I do change what things I do find as soon as I find
them.
Thanks.

Re: Link for Migrating a server from Windows to i
Hi Rob,
I don't have a link, but when we migrated / consolidated users from
approximately 35 wintel servers to 21 iSeries DPARs, we ran multiple ftp
streams to copy the data from the remote servers to the iSeries in the
data center. So you are on the right track.
HTH,

Link for Migrating a server from Windows to i
Anyone have a good link for the steps involved in migrating a system from
Windows to i? Closest I can find is
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg21092419
But I assume that I'll have to ftp like crazy instead of SAV. Can't get
SAV to save from QNTC.
