Well, I'm no expert on this but compact -b will not alter the DB ID,
while the compact -B will. This impacts backup utilities such as BRMS. I
believe the compact -B actually deletes and recreates the DB which is why
the ID is altered using the -B switch.

But, didn't the file size reduce?
Or, are you saying there's a disparity between what Domino considers the
file size, and the actual object size?
