Rob - it looks like you've steered me in the right direction again :)
Thanks for you input!
We are not running the internal notes browser. See my first sentence in
response (below) to Timothy. Also I'm pretty sure the user wouldn't have
an entry in the hosts table - if so that would be quite odd. I don't have
such an entry in my host table on my pc and if it were required for
anything notes related I'd know about it (because I'd be the one who'd
have to document that requirement).
It lookls like there's a DNS entry that does resolve 'notes' to the ip
address of the domino server. The home url in the http mapping of the
server document is '/homepage.nsf?Open'...
So I entered the ip address of the domino server (http://10.1.96.9/) and
it did display the same thing as the word "notes" does. So that confirms
the DNS entry.
So my next test was to enter "http://10.1.96.9/homepage.nsf/?Open" into
the browser and that also displayed the same page.
So now I'm going to change the html mapping home url value to
dwaredir.nsf, bounce HTTP and see what happens.....
Timothy:
The user opened either IE Explorer or Firefox (outside of Notes) - we do
not use the 'embedded' browser within notes function. That is set by
desktop policy. This was done at here at the office.
The user then simply typed the word 'notes' in the address bar of the
browser and pressed enter. It translated to "http://notes/". Enter that in
your address bar and see what you get.
I got the same HTML display that she did when I did the same thing in both
IE and FF.
We are running Notes 8.0.1 on V5R4.
Regards, Jerry
