There is no need to reboot, just do SET CONFIG Create_R8_Databases=1.

I would just right-click the folder and enable the advanced options - you
may want to go ahead and enable LZ1 compression.

We're talking baby steps here... DAOS (8.5) comes later.

But in Domino 8.0.2 on i 6.1 I am thinking of doing the following steps.
1 - Edit the notes.ini and add
Create_R8_Database=1
to change the ODS from 43 to 48.
2 - Reboot server.
3 - Use Administrator and select a few databases (shift click). Right
click. Advanced Properties. Enable "Compress Database Design" and
"Compress Document Data".
4 - Run the following:
compact -c archive/a_dhayes.nsf
compact -c archive/a_lsoto.nsf
Our two largest archive mail files. Roughly 20gb and 19gb respectfully.

Do those steps sound about right?

Any drawbacks from doing this?

All servers in our domain are running 8.0.2.

Got the gist of this from

Looking forward to DAOS as the first mail archive file has a lot of
attachments. That engineer has 3 emails over 100MB and 83 other ones over
20MB. And about 4,400 more over 1MB.

8.5 and DAOS.
