I tried to get mgmt to drop trend as well. The desktop and the message
gateways should catch the badness at both ends.
But marketing of Security software is focused on fear and not reason. So
the idea of taking away perceived security never went over very well.
I guess the belt and braces approach is embedded very deeply. Me i would
rather just make sure one or the other works as promised.

We don't expect Trend to stop much either, since we have virus protection
installed at desktop & server as well. I will see what Management thinks
about dumping it as well.

Thanks for your help.

Honestly, we're this close to dumping Trend. We have Message Labs scan
all of our internet inbound email. We also have desktop and server based
virus protection. We're wondering if the additional protection provided
by Trend is worth the hangs. Like the one I posted yesterday.

Checking the logs I see a bulk of the work done by trend is "Filter
attachment by file type". Apparently our Jaurez and El Paso personnel
receive a lot of .wav files and this strips them off. And a few people
send/receive .exe files and these are stripped.

Can't recall the last time a virus/trojan/etc got through the other stuff
and SMD stopped it.
