The biggest con I see in your environment is that it won't capture all of
the IDs until you get all of the Notes clients upgraded to release 8.5.x.
This will require you to use a combination of ID vault and ID recovery
until you can get all of the Notes clients upgraded.

Subject: ID Vault - Is there a con?
Sent by: domino400-bounces+kim=kimgreene.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx

Rob,

I could not figure out how to respond to an item from the Archives so I
just copied your original question below.

We are looking into ID Vault also. Have not found any "don't do's" yet.

However, we struggled for many weeks trying to get it to actually
synchronize the passwords from the Vault to the client. We finally found
a posting somewhere that recommends changing the IDV_POLL_INTERVAL in the

client's notes.ini file. Apparently the default 5 second interval is not
anywhere close to long enough for the password in the vault to sync with
the password on the client's workstation.

Here is the link that has the details:

ID Vault - Is there a con?

I'm hearing high praise of ID Vault. Are there any reasons to NOT use it?
Are there any concerns with it?

We are slowly (icebergs are doing circles around us) moving to 8.5.1 but
we have a mixture of clients going back to 6.5.5. All servers are 8.5 or
8.5.1.
