The current version of Domino (9.0.1) requires Java 6. Java 6 was not
carried over to IBM i 7.3.
I'm not seeing a target date for Domino 9.0.2.

I have 7 lpars of IBM i 7.2 itching to go to 7.3 (and I'd take them there
immediately) all running Domino 9.0.1.
I have a few more lpars not running Domino but have to wait on other
vendor blessings.

I did submit a request for enhancement that since Domino 9.0.2 isn't
immediately on the horizon that perhaps they could issue a fixpack for
Domino 9.0.1 which would use a different Java version.

Curious. Has Microsoft ever issued a version of Windows which did not
have a compatible version of Office for it?
