This is trying to say is don't remove your 1.1.x JVM when you install 1.2 on the AS/400. Some apps rely on 1.1.x so if you replace 1.1.x with Java 2, these apps will fail. Websphere is a good example. A particular release of Websphere is supported only on a specific JVM version. If you are running Websphere that needs 1.1.7, and you replace 1.1.7 with 1.2, Websphere will no longer work. So, add 1.2 to your AS/400 so that it has both JVMs. Old apps can use the existing JVM and you can point new apps at the new JVM. For example, the current version of WebSphere requires JDK 1.1.7". Does the above mean that I can't use JDBC 2.0 with JDK 1.2 (Java 2) using Websphere ? What does it mean in practical terms? fab +--- | This is the JAVA/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to JAVA400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to JAVA400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to JAVA400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: joe@zappie.net +--- +--- | This is the JAVA/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to JAVA400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to JAVA400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to JAVA400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: joe@zappie.net +---
