It means you like compact code. ;-)
They order of operation is this:
1) new date in constructored --> new java.util.Date()
- because its in parenthesis
2) a new String is constructed with the temporary date -->
String.valueOf(tempDate)
- again, because of parenthesis
3) the getlbDate method is called (because its first).
- there are no parameters to this method call.
- this returns some object that has a setText method on it
4) The object from getlbDate has its setText method called (because its
second)
- the temporary String (from #2) is passed into this call
Stringing methods together like this just allows the output from one to be
input to the next.

Subject: Method syntax question
I am learning Java and came across the following in a Java bean:
getlbDate().setText(String.valueOf(new java.util.Date()));
What does it mean when you have a method, a dot, and another method? How
are the two methods related?
Thanks so much for your help!
Tom T.
