What is Connection reset by peer error?

I am using toolbox on a Linux to access db2 on iSeries. In my servlet I keep
the connection up all the time. If I let the servlet idle for 30 minutes,
then the next time I access it the following statement will fail:

   pstmt = connection.prepareStatement(sqlStatement);

 The error message is: java.sql.SQLException: Internal driver
error.(Connection reset by peer: Connection reset by peer)

 What is the remedy?
