I was curious about these comments:

JDBC numbers the columns starting from 1, so what happens if column number
zero is requested?  I didn't have the patience to go through the code to
find out.

Select * works in JDBC.  I don't see anything wrong with your app.  What
line of code took the exception?  At that point what are the values for
pRow and pColumn?
