The problem may be because the WebSphere Application Server runs under user
profile QEJBSVR. If you are not passing in userid/passwod on connection
(via datasource settings or programmatically), then QEJBSVR is used. That
is not necessarily a problem - depends on your situation.

However, when QEJBSVR user profile is created (by the install exit program
for the WAS product), it is created without a password.

One workaround for you would be to set the password for the profile. The
WAS product does not have a problem with that and it is ok to do.

Hi,

I get the following error when using AS400 object without specifying
user/pass credentials on WAS v5r2:
'com.ibm.as400.access.AS400SecurityException: Password is not set.'

I have already put /qibm/proddata/java400/jt400ntv.jar in my Classpath and
successfully run standalone java programs (runjva) without setting the
user/pass in the as400 object. With Websphere it seems to miss the
classpath
settings? Possibly some config in WebSphere I'm missing?

Thanks in advance,
Rich Crosland
