Which of these offers more free/open source third party library/products?

  6.. .

Most software products are built with C/C++ of course, but IMO the
library base in java is bigger. DOTNET is too new to be competitive in
any area and RPG cant compete because it has not so much developers and
the area of RPG usage is mainly business programming, there you dont
have too many patterns which re-occur every day. Cobol is in the same
situation i guess. Another fact that speaks for java in the library
space is that you can use java nearly everywhere, so you have libs for
creating web applications, mobile applications, GUI applications all
this XML stuff, you really need more libs than with most other languages
out there, with a very strict focus on the devevelopment area. Take PHP,
a great language, but very focused to web development. You dont need
libraries for Widgets or 3d capabilities.
