An excellent book is "Component Development for the Java Platform",
by Stuart Halloway.  He also speaks on classloaders (among other
things) at the "No Fluff Just Stuff" symposia that are held all
around the country:

Note that this is something you would not normally use; it's rather
like dabbling in the Black Arts...  :)
